I’ve been at my job for only 7 months and I’ve just lined up an interview for another job tomorrow. I applied for a new job so soon after starting as I have felt unhappy here for reasons I will explain. My issue is that I am now starting to feel guilty about applying for another job after my current boss was so keen to make sure I intended to stay for a longer period of time. I’m worried I’ve been looking at my job in the wrong way.
I want to know if you think I’m making the right decision.
I work in design and I started my job after being made redundant from a job that I did very well in and received high praises when I had to leave. That first job was really tough and stressful in the first year but got a lot better and I grew into the role. My new job was a step up, doing the same thing for a slightly different type of company (much smaller) for much more money. The interview didn’t flow and they did most of the talking and I didn’t feel comfortable with hard business speak and ego gesturing. I chose this job over another job offer because of the money and also because its a prestigious company in my rather niche industry.
It has been a steep and rather overwhelming learning curve and I’ve not enjoyed it as much as I had hoped. The first clue of what was to come was a colleague on my first day telling me she didn’t like it there! As I’m still a junior a lot of things are new to me and I make mistakes which is to be expected but I’ve sometimes found some people slightly passive aggressive/patronising when I’ve asked questions. I also find It weird that its so quite here as I find that intimidating. I’m used to working somewhere where people aren’t so glued to their computers and get up and discuss work. They really communicate with instant messenger. I’ve seen a freelance manager almost fly off the handle a few times when I made mistakes that were otherwise very minor and quick to fix. I’ve found others making mistakes similar to mine but I don’t think it’s the

I am 4’11 and wear a size 12 with a 36F. I have to wear a white casual dress to a high school graduation that I am helping out with. I will be sitting in the front telling the graduates when to sit and stand, so I need to look good. I have love handles and I don’t have fat rolls. I also have a big butt and large thighs. I have been trying to look up dresses that look good but I don’t know what to follow. Please help me! And I am not going to post any pictures sorry.

I’ve been actively searching for full-time work for about 2 years. I work in a very niche field, but have been fortunate to be holding contract work the last two years. I’ve been around the job searching block more than once, but yet again I am looking for more ways to better get my resume to the front of the pile, or even speed up the usually terribly slow hiring process.
My question is.. If I apply for a position online (via online job app or email), is it wrong if I contact the company’s human resources or recruiter employees by phone after creeping up their contact info from the company website, LinkedIn, or other websites where their work phones/emails may be located? Would simply like to call to make a very forward attempt to say “I really want this job” and generally inquire about the position and timeframe for hiring.
I tried calling human resource employees in the past, but had no luck. In fact, I usually was never able to get in touch with them, only getting voicemails, and never getting a callback. When I would bug a front desk to speak with a recruiter, they usually got angry and said they wouldn’t be able to help me….. Is it a good or bad move to call these people after I put in a job application? Would there be a better person to call or email? (Like someone from the specific department I am applying for)

I am in college right now and it is not going as I had planned. I already have decided on my major and I am working on many of my prerequisites right now. The thing is, I am not doing very well in school and as the semesters go by it seems I am only doing worse. At the beginning of each semester I say I will study, keep up with the reading, and work hard. It works for about 2-3 weeks in and I find myself cramming for an exam or writing a paper the night before. I am barely making grades nowadays with Cs, lucky Bs (very little of these anyway) and I think I have had one D each semester for one class. Its really, really bad, I know…I feel like everyone I talk to is doing well. I really don’t mean to be so lazy, it that’s what people would call this. I really want to make people proud of me and I want to be able to be proud of myself. If it were not for the negativity dropping out of college brings from family and friends, I would probably have taken a break from school and ultimately (probably) would have given up by now. I want to get through college and have a career. I just don’t want to “gasping for air” the rest of the way through college…I really appreciate anyone reading this. I really do not know who to talk to. I feel this isn’t even a question but more of a vent….thanks again everyone.
