ELECTING A PERSON WITH NO COWS IN A COW TOWN; IF THE TOWN ONLY HAD 10,000 COWS NO WAY ? AFTER THERE IS 1 MILLION COWS MAYBE FUN HUH? It is usually difficult to practice anti-competitive practices unless the parties involved have significant market power or government backing. Monopolies and oligopolies are often accused of, and sometimes found guilty of, anti-competitive practices. For this reason, company mergers are often examined closely by government regulators to avoid reducing competition in an industry. Although anti-competitive practices often enrich those who practice them, they are generally believed to have a negative effect on the economy as a whole, and to disadvantage competing firms and consumers who are not able to avoid their effects, generating a significant social cost. For these reasons, most countries havecompetition laws to prevent anti-competitive practices, and government regulators to aid the enforcement of these laws. The argument that anti-competitive practices have a negative effect on the economy arises from the belief that a freely functioning efficient market economy, composed of many market participants each of which has limited market power, will not permit monopoly profits to be earned…and consequently prices to consumers will be lower, and if anything there will be a wider range of products supplied. Some people[who? ] believe that the realities of the marketplace are sometimes more complex than this or similar theories of competition would suggest. For example, oligopolistic firms may achieve economies of scale that would elude smaller firms. Again, very large firms, whether quasi-monopolies or oligopolies, may achieve levels of sophistication e.g. in business process and/or planning (that benefit end consumers and) that smaller firms would not easily attain. There are undoubtedly industries (e.g. airlines and pharmaceuticals) in which the levels of investment are so high that only extremely large firms that may be quasi-monopolies in some areas of their businesses can survive. Many governments regard these market niches as natural monopolies , and believe that the inability to allow full competition is balanced by government regulation . However, the companies in these niches tend to believe that they should avoid regulation, as they are entitled to their monopoly position by fiat. In some cases, anti-competitive behavior can be difficult to distinguish from competition. For instance, a distinction must be made between product bundling , which is a legal market strategy, and product tying , which violates anti-trust law . Some advocates of laissez-faire capitalism (such as Monetarists , some Neoclassical economists , and the heterodox economists of the Austrian school ) reject the term, seeing all “anti-competitive behavior” as forms of competition that benefit consumers.

Price /output Equilibrium: Jag.inc., Makes Stain Resistant Carpet Using A Process?

Price /Output Equilibrium: JAG.Inc., makes stain resistant carpet using a process that locks PTF (aka Tedlon) into the fibers. During recent years, its unique carpet has successfully exploited a profitable niche in the market. The company’s monopoly position in this market niche is now threatened by a competitor’s announcement of a new device with capabilities similar to those of the JAG product.
As TR=TC, calculate the MR, MC
Output price
0 $30
1 $28
2 $26
3 $24
4 $22
5 $20
A) While JAG still a monopoly position, what is their output , price, and profit at the profit-maximizing activity level?
B) What is the output, price, and profit for this product if a monopolistically competitive equilibrium evolves in this market following the successful introduction of the competitor’s product? (assume similar costs conditions for each firm)

Bachelor’s Degree In Nutrition?

I graduated with an undergraduate degree in human nutrition/dietetics in the last year. I want to start consulting business in a specific niche to help people eat better. I have NOT completed a dietetic internship. The thought of being an RD for various reasons has almost no appeal to me now. At the same time, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics seems to be trying to create a monopoly in the last few years attacking any health professional without the RD behind the name. How can you overcome the legal hurdles from the former ADA? I would appreciate any advice from RDs and non RDs alike. Basically I want to help others in my consulting business with getting threatened by lawsuits.

Is The Uk Energy Market A Monopoly?

Is it fate or have the energy companies just got a total monopoly? They have all dropped their prices by 5% in the same week. If its was a competition wouldn’t one go further bny doing say 7.5% etc
After watching that watchdog and seeing a graph that clearly showed that they have consistantly, for the past few years, kept prices almost indentical to each other at a higher rate than many gas and electric production price falls, why do we put up with them?
Is there a mother company pulling strings or more likely secret meetings with all the execs basically fixing prices and sharing customers by changing the tariffs and forcing people to go with the cheapest?

People Just Don’t Understand Collective Bargaining Does The Media Need To Do A Better Job Defining These Terms?

People think that Collective bargaining is just the right to put a group together & bargain as a group, not true. Collective Bargaining means workers have to join a Union if they want to work. In the Public sector it gives Unions a monopoly & control of all government paid jobs.
I don’t think forcing a company to hire through a Union, taking their right to choose who will work for them, taking the right to terminate unproductive employees, taking the right to pay more productive employees more is even anything that could possibly be legal using any intelligent thought process. It’s ownership rights of the company given to Unions who don’t have any investment in the company, no ownership at all. It’s insane.
But when it comes to public tax paid jobs it’s even more insane and wrought with inevitable corruption.
Unions have the power, the workers don’t and the elected officials don’t. Unions have completely denied votes by members on merit pay, wouldn’t even allow members they are SUPPOSED to represent to vote on a proposal! Tell me that’s WORKERS RIGHTS? That’s Union Control, PERIOD. That’s not even the worst of it. Unions force government workers to pay around $1000 a month each, which means for every 1000 workers they get a million dollars and there are hundreds of thousands of workers. They take this money and use it to help politicians, usually Democrats get elected. Those politicians then turn around and make deals giving much higher than market wages, and worse than that give up the ability to fire bad workers, especially ugly in teachers case this sticks kids with teachers without incentive to do a good job. They can’t get paid more for doing a good job and in 2 years they gain tenure & can’t be fired for cause at all. THAT is the BIG problem with our public school system. That is what Union control over government jobs creates. Generates huge amounts of money they bribe politicians with. The tax payers loose, the kids loose, the workers use their right to choose representation or not to be represented. Those Unions don’t even allow teachers secret ballots.
Result?
Government Corruption, officials bribed by Unions & their guys gain huge support from workers, most of whom don’t want their money spent that way.
Control of Government jobs by corrupt Unions, they bribe officials & get about what they want costing the tax payers and corrupting the system as well as taking representation away from voters
lower quality output; especially insidious in teachers who don’t do a good job teaching kids
higher costs; including over payment & extravagant benefits like Cadillac health plans & extravagant retirement benefits that go on until the worker dies costing millions.
These costs is exactly what is bankrupting many states. They shouldn’t have been allowed because it’s obvious they were not sustainable, but the bribery greased the wheels for these insane benefits that the economy simply can’t support even in the best of times.
It’s obvious to me and to anyone with a functioning brain I’d say, that giving Unions the government support to remove ownership rights of a company and give them to a Union with no ownership in the company at all, isn’t anything that should have ever been even considered. It’s a taking of ownership which is obviously not fair, no different than just stealing part of the land your home sits on without paying for it. BUT that pales in comparison to the wrong that’s created by legally binding governments to give their power over government jobs over to Unions. It’s just amazingly corrupt.
When people understand even part of this information the poling is for what governor Walker is doing by nearly 2 to 1. And it should be for his actions by a much wider margin.
