I am experiencing some trouble at work . . . Specifically, I’ve completed my third year at the company, but my managers are still having a hard time trying to figure out where I fit into the company, what to do with me. I had a hunch about this problem before they became aware of this problem – primarily because I saw that there really isn’t a specific opening in the business unit for me to occupy. I brought up the problem to my project manager, and he basically told me that it’s up to me figure things out. It’s not exactly the most supportive atittude, but I’ve moved on from this setback, and I’ve decided to focus on the solutions. I’ve came up with several, and I was wondering if I can get some feedback as to which one would be the best for me (financially and professional-development-wise).
1. Look for other opportunities within the company, and help my current business unit part-time. This way, I don’t burn bridges with my exisitng managers; I can still have a niche.
2. Apply for opportunities outside the company.
I am aware that 1 and 2 need to happen concurrently.
3. Apply to medical school, and become a physician. I feel that there will be a shortage of physicians in the workforce later on. Physicians are paid well; have a prestigious profession; never laid off; and the financial rewards at the end of residency + fellowship are something that I’d never be able to attain if I keep doing what I do now.
What are your thoughts? Or maybe I should just look for a new job (both inside and outside the company), while taking the coursework at night to gain admission to medical school. In other words, I should be doing all these 3 things.
I may have answered my own question there, but I am still feeling very undecided about which field to pursue while searching/working at my full-time job. I have narrowed it down to: medicine, accounting, computer science.
While I feel that medicine is the most financially lucrative field of all 3, it is also the one that is least related to my job and the most expensive route. I know that there are people who start medical school well beyond their early twenties (That’d be the case for me – probably will not make it to medical school until late 30s if I start now.) And I am wondering how I’d feel about that – surrounded by twenty-somethings who are much more adept at school and taking tests. I also have to hold down my full-time job as an analyst while trying to gain admission, and that makes for limited time in all the clinical experience that I must obtain for medical school admission. It is certainly do-able, but given how medical-school admission is more and more competitive every year, I don’t know if I want to spend a lot of time trying to gain admission into something that may not happen. What if I never get in? Wouldn’t all of that time spent on MCAT, admission, interviews simply go to waste?
Computer science and accounting are more related to what I do as an analyst; however, I feel that the downfall of jobs in these fields are just like that of my current job. When there isn’t work, you’re always afraid that your job is on the chopping block. Also, the financial rewards are simply not as lucrative as that of a physician. It’d cost considerably less to do degrees in computer science and accounting than a medical degree. Of course, the latter is also more prestigious.
Any thoughts?

I want to re-install PHPbb when I switch new web hosts, but I had several problems with the forums first off. I would like to make a record that this is PHPbb3 and it’s the most recent version available.
The problems lie with the spam-bots initially. They keep on coming and I had to keep banning them… and of course, that doesn’t help too much as more keep coming. So, I tried turning on “activation by e-mail”. Instead, it prevents EVERYONE from registering their accounts because it’s not sending any e-mails.
Next, I tried using the pre-installed reCAPTCHA that was included in my PHPbb download. Guess what? It doesn’t stop the bots. I was wondering if the reCAPTCHA was outdated or something and if I need to re-install it. And that is another problem: I have no idea how to re-install reCAPTCHA just to double-check if that has something to do with bots bypassing it.
Next, some of the registered users cannot log into the forums for some reason and instead they receive a message saying they exceeded the maximum number of tries. When they entered in the CAPTCHA to log in… Socket Error.
I want a specific set of forums where Guests may advertise their sites or make affiliating requests. I set those forums’ permissions so Guests should be able to post. Guess what happens when they tried posting? Socket Error.
So I feel like giving up and just re-install the forums when changing hosts. However, I want to keep the accounts and the posts intact but not the settings. Can anyone give me some support on any of these issues? Thanks.
P.S. Here is the link to the forums if you want to see the problems for yourself:http://pkmnstray.com/

So, I have a 5 year old, so have been thinking about his education. My husband and I are trying to decide between private school or state (public) school.
I have two brothers ,and my husband has three sisters, and all of our nieces and nephews are school-age. While we love them all the same and think they are all great kids, there is no question that the ones that attend private school are more well-rounded ( proficient in French, Latin, an instrument, and several sports) and seem more mature. I don’t think that they are any smarter or have better parents than the other kids, so the schooling must be what sets them apart. The only thing stopping us is the cost (astronomical!). Another problem is that ALL the good private schools we have found are religiously affiliated, and as my husband and I are atheists and do not promote belief in god, I don’t know if this would be confusing for him. If it is hardly mentioned, that’s fine, I just do not know how heavy-handed they are at those places. Opinions?

I’m a web and mobile applications developer. Can anyone suggest ideas for a good software as a service application? What is a problem that people/business in a niche market encounter that can be solved by a web or mobile application?

Okay so my birthday is coming up next month (Feb 23rd). I want to have a party in March, when it’s warmer, and the winter sports season has ended (most of us are athletes, and I don’t want sports to affiliate with anything).
But the problem is, I don’t know what to do…
I was thinking of having a party bus. But the problem is I made the list, and I don’t have that many boys.. it’s a list of 30 people. I was going to ask people to invite people. Not only that, but some of my friends aren’t “party people” and I don’t want them to just sit down there awkward…
What to do? Or what should I do? I really want a party bus though…

I have been using it for a couple of months now and I love it. The problem is, either I can’t find a niche without too much competition or I simply don’t understand the numbers to proceed.
What would be even better is if there is some who lives in Sydney I can get together with.
