In Tim Ferriss’s prescription for creating a business in the 4 Hour Workweek, he advises finding a market first, then making a product for them.
I have followed the steps in the book and identified a few niches I could market to. For each niche I have found several small trade magazines. So far, so good.
The problem is, after contacting the ad directors at a few of these magazines (to ask for back issues and their current rate card), they all hit me with a barrage of questions like “what’s your product URL?” and “what is your product?”
This is a catch-22, because I want to validate the magazine before I come up with a product idea, let alone launch a website.
What do I tell these folks? Has anyone here created a muse successfully following Ferriss’s steps in the 4 Hour Workweek? What’s the best way to ask for this information when you DON’T EVEN HAVE A PRODUCT ?
Thanks in advance!

Price /Output Equilibrium: JAG.Inc., makes stain resistant carpet using a process that locks PTF (aka Tedlon) into the fibers. During recent years, its unique carpet has successfully exploited a profitable niche in the market. The company’s monopoly position in this market niche is now threatened by a competitor’s announcement of a new device with capabilities similar to those of the JAG product.
As TR=TC, calculate the MR, MC
Output price
0 $30
1 $28
2 $26
3 $24
4 $22
5 $20
A) While JAG still a monopoly position, what is their output , price, and profit at the profit-maximizing activity level?
B) What is the output, price, and profit for this product if a monopolistically competitive equilibrium evolves in this market following the successful introduction of the competitor’s product? (assume similar costs conditions for each firm)

Basically, I have discovered a niche market in which I think profitability will be extremely high. However, the products themselves are sold and distributed by another company, although they only retain distribution warehouses and their products aren’t sold in supermarkets- so I am curious as to whether I am get their products and ask supermarkets to sell them?

I have a mate of mine who in simple words “easily sold”, if something looks good he’ll dive at it, he doesn’t believe in the too good to be true scenario. He’s recently come across something he likes to call “expansion marketing” in which he works as an affiliate for Healthcare product corporation. I’m not sure if you understand this term, basically you pay a base fee to join this affiliate group in which you can start referring other people to join gaining credit points per person beneath you as well as commission. Now it looks all good, but ive always believed if it was too good to be true then it probably is, no such thing as a business that doesnt screw someone over. Money doesn’t pop out of nowhere, someone gets screwed. I’d just like to know is he in any way justified in a stable position with this “job”
My issues with it are:
– It looks like a job with minimal effort and high reward
– Seems to have no flaws in its structural system
– Everybody wins in this business
– You can have a constant pay cheque of over 60k
My friend is also a kind of person who prefers to only present the positive so that his plans seem flawless which in the end smacks him in the back of the head cus the problems start rising. So basically, Healthcare affiliates, stable job or no? if its legit tell me why, if it isnt give me all the dirt 🙂

Okay..so, I was at a yard sale and I got a lot of stuff..but, there was a bag of these Yugioh things. They are about the same size as the card, a little bigger. They are black, though I have one red one. On it are images of monsters like Oblisk the Tormentor and Blue Eyes White Dragon, and there are attacks like Dark Magician’s Hats..and, there are also characters like Pegasus. On the bottoms they have small niches..though I am not sure what they’re for. I’ve already ruled out the possibility that they are card holders. If you put them to the light they look cool and you can see the characters more clearly,,but there has to be more. Anyone have any answers for me?
