im currently a freshman at pitt state college. im looking to transfer to a university next year that has the NROTC and apply for scholarship. ive talked to a non affiliated-nrotc officer who is an OSO. he asked me a ton of questions. through all these questions i ended up qualifying, except for 1 problem: my backround record. i disclosed to him that 4-5 months ago (when i was a juvenile-17) i was charged with domestic battery. my mother and i had ended up getting into a small fight. he said that i would have qualified but since the battery was involved with a WOMAN, that it was a whole different story and that i had become disqualified.
my question is, is this a true proper disqualification? and if it is, would the nrotc recruiter disqualify me as well?

The college is private and is affiliated with Catholicism. It is rather liberal in regards to religion and does not require students to be religious. Teaches evolution, rejects literal creationism, and is a well-respected institution.

I didn’t get into the Naval Academy this year (Did get a nomination though; like a boss) so I’m going to my back up San Marcos. I got kinda focused on the academy and didn’t apply for NROTC like I should have so I’m just going to enter the program without a scholarship. BTW I checked and you can still do the college program (Or whatever it’s called) at San Marcos even if it’s a cross-town affiliate. I just don’t have a darn clue how to apply. Do I do it at Freshman Orientation or do I need to call and ask someone at San Diego State. The people I’ve emailed there have been useless so far and just keep telling me to apply for the scholarship next year. Seriously any help would be amazing.

I was awarded the four year scholarship, and will be attending Milwaukee School Of Engineering crosstown affiliate of Marquette. My major will be Mechanical Engineering. When will be the last opportunity for me to go Marine Option. Honestly I’m considering marine option because while all members of the military are cherished, Marines in my hometown are treated with a completely different honor. The most important thing after serving my country, is having a career in the private sector. I don’t plan to be a career officer, I want to start civilian life maybe ten to twelve years after commissioning in my early 30’s, so i can start my family. Should I stay as a midshipmen and hopefully go off to Nuclear Power School, or choose Marine Option and pursue combat engineer.
