I’m pretty sure it was elementary school, at least. The book took place in Romania, and I’m pretty sure it was the 80s. The book ends with the spurs of Revolution, I think. The narrator is a girl and she had gotten a red scarf as a present, I think. The scarf was very important in the book, and at the end she gives it away to a boy (or young man, whatever) who has a head injury, to help stop the bleeding. I think her family stood in bread lines, and at one point she is eating M & Ms that she had gotten from a friend, who was a boy, whose father worked for…secret police or something, which is why who could get that. Her mother was concerned when she saw her eating them because she said they could only get chocolate off the Black Market. I believe there was an epilogue talking about how, although improved, Romania was still facing some problems.
Also there’s another book, but I don’t think anyone can find it because I only remember the cover, some characteristics, but not the plot at all. The cover was a girl in a navy uniform sitting down at a chessboard on an island. You could only see her upper torso to her head, and her back was to the cover. The protagonist was a adventurous tomboy I think…? They went to an island…there were rocks…somebody might have gotten murdered…I think someone fell out of a window…I have no idea what happened, but I’m pretty sure it had a word along the lines of “game” or something similar in the title.

They say you can’t go outside anymore without being caught on video. But who is watching everybody? Is there a growing jobs market for secret police?

I dislike this president as much as the next guy but if I was going to pick his birthright to presidency I would pick it on something a little better than “oh that piece of paper was Photoshopped”. I would like to point out that upon winning an election the FBI and CIA both verify the legitimacy of a birth certificate. Its not like either of those organizations make it a habit of taking someone on their word. So then how best to disprove his legitimacy?
I would just like to pose a scenario and see what everyone thinks. First off, a little background to give you and idea of the situation in which such a scenario could possibly take place. The following is true. Assume the birth certificate is real. It is 1961. The Soviet Socialist Republic(USSR) is at the peak of its power rivaling that of the United States. Cold War is in full effect and The Soviet Union deploys Nuclear Missiles in Cuba, aims them at the US, and launches the Cuban missile crisis. At this point in time the concept of MAD(Mutually Assured Destruction) is fully realized on both sides. So then, as the dictator of the Soviet Union, how best to defeat your enemy, the United States, if nukes assure you yourself will be nuked in return? Invasion is also of high risk as there is no clear superiority of either sides forces and it would be incredibly costly and still carry the risk of being nuked. So then what do you focus on? Ever seen the movie SALT? or how about Manchurian Candidate? Ever wonder where those concepts came from? The fact is the Soviet Union’s favorite toy was the KGB(their Secret police) and that sort of thing was the KGB’s specialty. There is no doubt Communist Russia thought and planned on very long-term basis all the time and their leaders loved the idea of destroying America from the inside.That being said, I would like to pose to you a scenario and see what all of you think. I am NOT saying I think this is what happened, I just think it is an intriguing possibility.
It is 1961 a poor immigrant woman from Kenya has moved to Hawaii and and given birth to a boy. She names him Barack Hussein Obama. Sometime in the next few years KGB operatives do one of the following variations:
1. Kill Barack and replace him with a highly indoctrinated imposter. Pay off his mom(possibly by promising to take care of her and her mother still in Kenya)
2. Kill Barack’s parents and replace them with KGB operatives and give them ample time to instruct and mold Barack into the exact character they want him to be.
Jump a few years ahead, Barack moves to Chicago where he becomes involved with many known communist and socialist supporters and is then lead through a quickly building political and public carrier all the while championing the causes and ideals of socialism and communism. Don’t believe me? Compare his actions to that of what communism is and has been throughout the last century(Start with USSR and China. fun reading btw). Anyways. after years of political grooming, planning, and cultural changes within the US that all coincide with the above mentioned Soviet goals it is time for the communist movement in the United States to make their move. It is time to place Barack Hussein Obama in the election for president. So what chance does this small time man from Chicago with less than admirable grades wherever he went really have? Well, lets look at who backed him. The Democratic party. What has the democratic party pushed for for decades? More control of all aspects of life from education to healthcare to market regulation. See Soviet goals 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 14-17, 20, 21, 24-34, 36-42. Another major backer of Barack are unions. What is goal 36 was achieved? What actions have unions taken in the later part of the 20th century that coincide with many points within communism? Many of Obama’s friends are acclaimed socialist and some have even gone so far as to claim communism outright. Even if NOTHING in the above mentioned scenario is true, lets imply look at what Obama has supported or done while in office. so as you can see there isn’t really even a need to discredit Obama as a communist plant. He is a walking communist billboard on his own. Now if you fully believe in communism then by all means Vote for him, he is an excellent candidate if the communist goals are really in line with your own, but please, just do some research on what communism is and what it is responsible for throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. There are very good reasons why The Soviet Socialist Republic does not exist any more
