To my understanding, Enron was a thriving company. It expanded into other industries. To sustain it’s growth , however, Enron began borrowing money and had serious debts to pay. The company decided to hide this fact because it would make the stock look less valuable. They also began offering secret information to to large potential investors which was illegal. And to top that off, the CEO of Enron began to secretly sell his stock so that he doesn’t lose any money. The truth eventually came out and the company announced a loss of $638 million and the stock market fell drastically.
Now, who is Arthur Anderson and what exactly was his role in the scandal? I heard that his job was to ensure that potential investors could rely on Enron’s financial statements.
Any information regarding this case is appreciated ! (This is for an assignment). I can’t seem to find anything about Andersen on google :/
Thanks!

There is no question that all politicians are short on honor and none are truly trustworthy, but perhaps they get that way because we are so gullible; so short on common sense. We have just given control of the House of Representatives back to the people who created the conditions that triggered the recession that wiped out the stock market, caused hundreds of bank failures, caused massive job loss and countless home repossessions. These are the same people who have refused to do anything constructive for two years, effectively slowing all the efforts to boost the economy and recover from that recession. These are the same people who get massive funding from the super-rich and the largest corporations and lobby groups, then use it to convince you to vote against your own best interests. If these facts were secret, one could say we were fooled- but they are not, it’s publicly documented and available to anyone intelligent enough to research the facts.
Are we too dumb to do that?

It’s a serious question.
I’m doing the obvious. I went to Uni, got a professional job, I save 50 percent of my net income(£1000 per month). I am studying the stock market, specifically options, in my spare time.
But what next…? I would love to know what a person could do instead of leaving their money in a bank (low interest rates). Mutual funds are vulnerable to market downturns; I’d prefer to be an active investor. I’m unsure of how to go about it – and thought I should learn from the best – you. You, the person reading this post, who have managed to create wealth.
We all know that there are too many people putting their hands out for money – whether to their bank or to their parents. What would be better is if people could learn from intelligent people like you who know how to make money.
So, please – let us know how you did it. How did you become wealthy? How did you know which businesses or stocks to invest in? Or did you find another route?
This is far better than “the secret millionaire” – instead of giving us a fish, I’m asking you to teach Yahoo readers HOW to fish!

I am 19, and I’m a learner swing trader who has found modest successes for a beginner stock market swing trader after reading swing trading for dummies – it’s helped a lot.
What I would like to know is if there are any other stock swing traders out there who trade successfully. And also, what are the secrets to your successes and the causes of your failures?
